Alabama native and provider for 40+ years, Dr. Bryan W. McGwier joined Birmingham Heart Clinic in 2025. He sees patients at our Rainbow City location.

A native of Mobile, Dr. McGwier attended Birmingham Southern College, graduating with honors and awards. He completed his internship, Internal Medicine residency, Chief Residency, and Cardiology Fellowship all at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.

Dr. McGwier founded and was president of Southern Cardiovascular Associates for 30+ years prior to his initial retirement. For many years, he has served as a Proctor, and traveled the country teaching Transesophageal Echocardiography techniques with special interest in cerebrovascular interventions.

Prior to his pursuit of higher education, Dr. McGwier was a professional Wedding Photographer.

Dr. McGwier and his wife Candace have four children, three sons and a daughter. He has a passion for all Alabama sports and is an active member of Church of the Highlands in Gadsden.
